Crochet afghan with cable

Suggested sizes are provided for moses basket and crib blankets, single, double, queen and kingsize bed blankets and a bed runner.

Quantities of yarn vary widely. However, as a guide, a 76cm (30”) x 51 (20”) Moses basket sized blanket, will require 800m Aran/WW yarn, a 5.00mm hook, a tape measure or ruler and a needle for neatening ends.

Gauge: 18sts and 22 rows to 5” square – measured over centre panel cable repeat.

Crochet Slipper Boots

These cosy slipper boots are what cold feet have been crying out for!

Slipper Boots

Fully customisable lengths of 6½” (16.5cm) and upwards and two width fittings means these slipper boots will fit most feet from a UK child size 9 (US child size 10) to adult (standard).

Sole size 1 fits up to 3½“(9cm) wide.
Sole size 2 fits up to 4½“(11.5cm) wide.

Widths are measured across the ball of the foot, from one side to the other, at the widest part.

The squidgy double soles feature a circular ball – soles can be worked in different colours for different effects. The uppers are gently shaped for a comfortable fit.

Materials: 150-250m of double knitting (8-ply) yarn – colour changes are optional and amount is very much dependant on size, one stitch marker and a needle for neatening ends – embellishments are optional.

Hook: 3.50mm.

Crochet Snood Patterns

These crochet snood patterns are available for £1.95 GBP each.

Better still, you can buy the bear snood and the foxy snood together for a reduced price of £2.90 with this link.

Crochet Bear SnoodFox Snood

Snuggly warm and ever so cute! The crochet snood patterns give instructions to work in sizes to suit ages 1-3 years, 3-10 years and 10 – adult.  There is no reason why the pattern cannot be worked smaller as a photo prop for babies but, I don’t recommend the use of a snood for small babies.

For the fox, you will need 150-300g (200-400m) Patons Shadow Tweed in Red/Orange/Burgundy (6906) or similar chunky weight yarn, a 5.00mm and a 6.00mm hook, 10cm (4”) of white swansdown fur and a needle for neatening ends.

For the bear, you will need 150-300g (360-720m) Patons Colour Works Aran in Earth Mix (82) or similar Aran weight yarn, a 5.00mm and a 6.00mm hook and a needle for neatening ends.

Both patterns are written in UK terms with a table of US equivalents provided as applicable.

Crochet Shawl

The Art Deco Crochet Shawl pattern is available now on Ravelry.

The finished crochet shawl (shaped scarf/neckerchief) measures 180cm (pre blocking) and 200cm (post blocking) along the neck edge.

You will need: 600-700m DK yarn, a 4.00mm hook, one stitch marker and a needle for neatening ends.  I used Sirdar Double Crepe for the sage green one and Patons Smoothie DK for the burgundy one.  Light worsted weight will produce similar results.  With other yarns, the size and texture may vary.

Gauge: 15sts and 11 rows to 10cm.

This pattern is written in UK terms with a table of US terms provided as applicable.

Zig Zag Stitch Crochet Cowl Scarf or Wrap

This pattern will produce a soft textured cowl, scarf or wrap in a choice of 60 (90, 120, 150) cm / 24” (36”, 48”, 60”) circumference as small (medium, large, extra-large).

Instructions are given for changing the circumference if you want to custom size it. For example, a snood can be made by working a 75cm (30”) circumference to a depth of 66cm (26”).

The cowl in the example is the large version worked to a depth of 13cm (5in). It was worked in 110g (200m) 4 ply yarn with a 4.00mm hook and a gauge of 20sts and 11 rows over 10cm (4”) in htr zigzag pattern.

You will need up to 400m of your chosen yarn (for the largest size cowl), an appropriately sized hook and a needle for neatening ends.

It is recommended you select a hook a little larger than you would normally use to produce a soft drape to the fabric to meet the gauge. This can be changed as long as you meet the measurements given for width and length.

Crochet Slip Stitch Headband

This crochet slip stitch headband pattern is for a multi size headband with button trim; worked in slip stitch with a picot edging.

Quick to work and an ideal introduction to slip stitch crochet.

You will need: DK yarn, 3.50mm hook, 3 odd buttons and a yarn needle for neatening ends.

Gauge: 4sts and 7 rows to 1” in slip stitch.

This crochet slip stitch headband is written in UK terms with a table of US equivalents provided as applicable.

Crochet Baby Book – High Contrast Design

This wonderfully textured, high contrast baby book with bobble texture will delight and entertain all babies (even the grown up ones) and features an owl, a heart, a swan and a rabbit.

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

Worked in DK yarn, the book measures 14” x 8” (35 x 20cm) unfolded or 7” x 8” (17.5 x 20cm) folded.

You will need 150g (300m) of DK yarn in your main colour (MC) and 50g (100m) of various contrasting colours (CC). Other yarns may be used but finished size will vary.

The colours used in example are indicated in brackets, throughout the pattern, where MC and CC are mentioned. You may substitute any colours as desired – an ideal opportunity to use up some scraps! When choosing, it is useful to remember that babies are attracted to contrasting colours!

You will also need a 3.50mm hook, a needle for neatening ends and a small toy squeaker (optional).
